Car Service and Oil Change in Lahore
A car service in Lahore should match your car and how you drive it. Heat, dust and stop-start traffic are harder on oil, filters and brakes than a standard schedule assumes.
By the Safdar Auto Workshop team · Walton Road, LahoreWhat a service usually covers
- Engine oil and oil filter
- Air filter and cabin filter
- Brake, coolant and other fluid levels
- Battery condition
- Tyre pressure and wear
- Lights, belts and hoses
- A look at brakes and suspension

Minor and major service
A minor service covers the basics such as oil and filters. A major service adds items due at longer intervals, such as spark plugs or certain fluids. Your owner manual gives the schedule, and we follow it.
Why oil quality matters
The right grade for your engine matters more than the brand name on the can. We tell you what we are using and why.
Why engine oil matters
Engine oil lubricates moving parts, carries heat away, and holds dirt in suspension until the filter catches it. Over time it breaks down and collects contaminants. Using the grade and specification your manufacturer recommends matters more than the brand on the can, so check your owner manual.
Signs your car is overdue for a service
- The oil is dark and gritty on the dipstick
- The oil warning light comes on
- Engine noise or roughness that was not there before
- Falling fuel economy
- Smoke from the exhaust
- You cannot remember when it was last serviced
What we look at besides the oil
- Air filter, which affects performance and economy
- Cabin filter, which affects AC airflow and cabin air
- Brake pads, discs and brake fluid level
- Coolant level and condition
- Battery condition and terminals
- Tyre pressure and tread, including the spare
- Lights, wipers and horn
- Belts and hoses for cracks and wear
Heavy traffic and dust change the schedule
Service intervals in the manual assume typical use. Stop-start traffic, long idling, dust and extreme heat count as harder use for an engine. If that sounds like your driving, ask us whether a shorter interval makes sense for your car. We follow your manual first and explain any change.
Bring your service history
If you have previous receipts or a service book, bring them. They show what has already been done and help us avoid repeating work.
Reading an engine oil label
An oil label such as 5W-30 carries two numbers. The first, with the W for winter, describes how easily the oil flows when cold. The second describes how thick it stays at normal operating temperature. Labels also carry quality specifications, such as API or ACEA ratings, and some manufacturers require their own approvals. The correct choice for your car is the one in your owner manual, because engines are built with specific clearances, and an oil that is too thin or too thick can reduce protection. When you ask us for a service, we tell you which grade and specification we are putting in and why.
The oil filter does more than it looks like
The oil filter traps tiny particles of metal, carbon and dirt so they do not circulate through the engine. It contains filter media and a bypass valve that opens if the filter becomes clogged, which keeps oil flowing but lets unfiltered oil through. A poor-quality filter can have weaker media or a weaker valve, so changing the filter with every oil change is part of the job and worth doing properly.
Air and cabin filters in a dusty city
Lahore is dusty for much of the year, and the air filter is what stops that dust entering the engine. A badly clogged filter can reduce power and economy. The cabin filter cleans the air that comes through your vents and affects how strongly your AC blows. Both are inexpensive to replace compared with the problems they prevent. A simple sign that the cabin filter is overdue is weak airflow from the vents even at full fan speed.
A fluid-by-fluid guide
- Coolant: carries heat away from the engine. Use the type your manufacturer specifies, because different types should not be mixed.
- Brake fluid: absorbs moisture over time, which lowers its boiling point. Replace it at the interval in your manual.
- Power steering fluid: on hydraulic systems, dark or foamy fluid can point to wear or air in the system.
- Transmission fluid: some manuals call it lifetime fluid, but it still ages, so ask us if your car has high mileage.
- Washer fluid: cheap to top up and important in dusty conditions and rain.
How we suggest planning your service history
Keep every receipt and note the odometer reading at each service. A simple record helps us avoid repeating work, helps you spot patterns, and is valuable proof of care if you sell the car. If you are new to us, bring whatever history you have and tell us how you use the car: short city trips, long highway drives, heavy traffic or regular towing. The answers shape what we recommend.

Frequently asked questions
How often should I service my car in Lahore?
Follow your owner manual. If you drive in heavy traffic or dusty conditions, ask us whether a shorter interval suits you.
Can you service any make of car?
Yes. We work on all makes and models. The only exception is fully electric vehicles.
Is synthetic oil necessary?
It depends on what your manufacturer specifies. Some engines require a particular specification. We use the grade your manual calls for.
What happens if I skip a service?
Old oil and clogged filters increase wear, and small faults go unnoticed until they become larger repairs.
How long does a service take?
A basic service is usually shorter than a service with extra repairs. We tell you when we have inspected the car.
What is the difference between oil grades?
The numbers describe how the oil flows when cold and when hot. Use the grade in your owner manual.
Why change the oil filter every time?
The filter holds the contaminants removed from the oil. A used filter left in place with fresh oil defeats part of the point.
Is it a problem if the oil level is above the maximum mark?
Too much oil can cause foaming and leaks, so it should be corrected. Tell us if you see it.
