Car Electrician in Lahore
Electrical faults are hard to find by guessing. We trace the cause before replacing parts, so you do not pay for things that were not broken.
By the Safdar Auto Workshop team · Walton Road, LahoreElectrical problems we look at
- Car will not start or cranks slowly
- Battery draining overnight
- Charging system and alternator faults
- Starter motor problems
- Lights, indicators and horn faults
- Power windows and central locking
- Wiring damage and short circuits

How we find the fault
We test the battery and charging system, check fuses and relays, and trace wiring. Computer scanning helps on newer cars.
If a warning light is on, see our warning lights guide.
How a car electrical system works
The battery supplies power to start the engine and run accessories when the engine is off. The starter motor turns the engine, and once it runs, the alternator charges the battery and powers the car. Fuses and relays protect circuits, and wiring connects it all. A weakness in any of these can look like a different problem.
Common electrical faults and what they feel like
- Slow cranking or clicking: weak battery, poor connections or a starter fault
- Battery that goes flat: old battery, a failing alternator or something drawing power overnight
- Dim or flickering lights: charging fault or loose connection
- Fuses that keep blowing: a short circuit in that circuit
- Windows or locks failing: switch, motor, fuse or wiring
- Warning lights: sensor, wiring or charging faults
Why electrical faults are hard to find
Many electrical faults come and go. Corroded connectors, damaged insulation and poor earth connections can make a car behave oddly only when it is hot, wet or vibrating. Finding them takes systematic testing, not part swapping.
Heat and moisture in Lahore
High summer heat shortens battery life, and monsoon moisture can corrode terminals and connectors. If your car has been in floodwater, have the electrics checked before you try to start it.
Safety first
Do not attempt to jump-start or disconnect a battery without knowing the correct procedure for your car. Mistakes can damage electronics. If you are unsure, call us.
Understanding battery ratings
A battery label usually shows its capacity in ampere-hours and its cold cranking amps, which describe how much current it can deliver to start the engine. A battery with too little capacity for your car will struggle, especially as it ages. We match replacements to your car, not just to the case size.
Testing the charging system
With the engine running, a healthy charging system typically shows a voltage a little above the battery resting voltage, commonly in the range of about 13.5 to 14.5 volts. A reading well outside that range suggests an alternator or regulator problem. Testing the battery and alternator together shows whether a flat battery is the cause or the result.
Parasitic drain: the overnight battery killer
Parasitic drain is current drawn by the car when it is switched off. Some drain is normal, but too much empties the battery. Common causes are aftermarket accessories, a stuck relay, a glovebox or boot light that stays on, or a faulty control module. Finding it means measuring the current and removing fuses one at a time to see which circuit is responsible.
Headlight upgrades and safety
Brighter lights are not always better. A bulb that does not suit the housing can scatter light, dazzle other drivers and light the road worse. If you want an upgrade, ask us what suits your car. Cloudy lens covers are a different problem, and restoring them can improve beam quality.
Starter problems: clicking versus cranking
A single click and nothing else often means a weak battery, poor connection or starter solenoid. An engine that cranks slowly points to a weak battery or a tired starter. An engine that cranks normally but does not start points elsewhere, such as fuel or ignition, so the right diagnosis saves money.
Aftermarket accessories
Added audio systems, tracking devices, lights and cameras need correct wiring and fusing. Poorly installed accessories cause many electrical faults. If you have fitted anything, tell us, because it helps us trace faults faster.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my car battery keep going flat?
Common causes are an old battery, a faulty alternator or something drawing power when the car is off. Testing finds which.
Do you repair wiring damage?
Yes, we trace and repair wiring faults.
How long does a car battery last?
It varies with the battery, the car and the climate. Heat shortens life. A test shows its condition.
Can a bad alternator damage a new battery?
Yes, a faulty charging system can leave a new battery undercharged. Test the charging system when you replace a battery.
Do you fix wiring problems?
We trace and repair faults in the wiring.
Why does my car battery die when it is hot?
Heat speeds up internal wear and water loss. A weak battery often fails during summer.
Can I replace a battery myself?
Technically yes, but some cars need settings reset afterwards. Ask us first.
